They chat away but I don't hear I word
And then I'm struck down by a rising mirth
And whatever's just been said's gone over my head

I'm on the outside of an in-joke
I'm nodding my head but its just a token gesture
I don't get these jesters
I watch them falling, laughing, reeling
They're slapping my back but I can't disguise the feeling

Laughter continues and I silently wait
For this to moment to pass, for my discomfort to abate
